Most of the bedding one sees today is made from a combination of various materials and chemical substances. In contrast,we make pasima by refining natural cotton and removing the oil and other impurities, and we do not use any anti-bacterial agents, softeners, fluorescent brightening agents, starch or fungicides.Completely free from unnecessary substances, pasima allows both mind and body to rest at ease.By promoting health through slumber,we offer weary bodies an unparalleled sleeping environment for all season of the year.
Inventor of pasima,Reiichiro Kakehashi
There can't be anyone who hasn't used sanitary cotton or gauze with a disinfectant for wounds. In an effort to create bedclothes with the softest feel,we came up with the idea of combining sanitary cotton and gauze, which are also used in the field of medicine. We succeeded in removing the oil content and impurities from these, resulting in outstanding absorption and heat retention qualities. This led pasima to become the first Japanese bedding product to receive OEKO-TEX(R) Standard 100 Class One Certification. This is a global standard for textile products and their suitability for human use, with Class One being the category with the strictest tests for toxic substances. This is proof that our products contain no harmful substances and that they are suitable for the delicate skin of a baby.Everyone from newborn babies to the elderly can rest assured of the safety of pasima bedding.
At first glance, pasima bedding looks very thin, but this fabric is brimming with advanced technology and loving care.First is the inner layer of cotton batting made of sanitary cotton, developed through many years of research. The special pasima blend of using rich long-fiber cotton with a mixture containing 15% conjugated-fiber enhances its lightweight, durable and heat retentive qualities. The layer that touches the skin is made with high-density 100% cotton gauze, the same quality standard as medical gauze. Our special three-layer structure of sanitary cotton sandwiched between two layers of gauze produces a highly aerated textile with unbelievable instant absorption,as well as double the heat retention of raw cotton. Cool in summer and warm in winter, these are truly bedclothes for all seasons.pasima mattress pads have extra cotton batting layers in addition to these three-layers,adding to the thiclness to make a five-layer fabric.Used together with other pasima products,it will make for an even more comfortable sleep.
The pasima factory is located in Ukiha City,Fukuoka Prefecture. With the grand Chikugo River to the north, and the Mino Mountain Range to the south, the region is renowned for its natural water resources. The bountiful springs and wells of the mountains have been a precious source of water for the everyday needs of local people. The Kiyomizu Spring and the Cho-on Waterfall have been ranked in Japan's top 100 springs and water source forest, respectively. The beautifull crtstal-clear pristine water has been an irreplaceable resource in the washing process of pasima bedclothes, making it so gentle on the skin. The pasima factory manufacturing process strives to have a little impact as possible on the natural environment. To show our appreciation to the local community,we give each newborn baby in Ukiha City their own "First pasima",through which we hope to contribute to the city's future.
The most important part of manufacturing pasima products is the fiber purifying process.Put simply, this process removes oils and impurities, making for cotton textile with a high level of purity. This purifying process requires much time and technology. The purifying pan at the Ukiha factory is twice the size of a regular sanitary cotton pan.During processing, the temperature and pressure are carefully adjusted according to the condition of the cotton. The process of purifying and dyeing takes approximately 1 to 2 days, bringing it to a level of quality and purity equal to any medical cotton product. At first glance,it may be difficult to detect the many technological advances used to produce this extremely safe material. This pursuit of perfection is part of making pure soft cotton textile that feel safe and soft on the skin.
The products at the pasima factory are carefully made with every switch sewn.Because we want to our bedclothes to last longer,we are particular about quality control. Each pasima product has its own unique barcode for traceability. We will not compromise when making that special product for each individual cutomer.
One of the feature of pasima products is their fluffiness and durability.Easy to wash, dust and mites just rinse out, and no matter how many washes they still maintain a comfortable feel, becoming even softer and snugglier.Dust accumulates easily on regular bedding, but pasima products are virtually dustless. This is a result of the special cotton batting being made of long fibers, and the outer gauze being made from yarn twice as fine as that used in toweling. The robust fine stiches in the quilting can endure over 100 washes, and will maintain its body with weekly washes.Fluorescent brightening and softening agents are not used and only harmless dye is selected to make it safe for babies. Those with sensitive skin can feel at ease using pasima products over long periods of time.
Reiichiro Kakehashi, founder of Ryugu Co. Ltd,has been involved in the cotton industry all his life.Since he was young he was very strict and competitive when it came to cotton. He is part of a generation who survived the turmoll of war.Reiichiro was always interested in health, and worked hard based on the teaching of an uncle who manufactured sanitary cotton, that,"Sanitary cotton is an immaculate product that is safe to use on the body".He developed the idea and came upon the innovative concept og using sanitary cotton to make bedclothes.Half a century later,Reiichiro, who himself suffered from allergies, worked at the front line of sanitary cotton manufacturing, and after 10 years of development finally created the ideal bedclothes- "pasima".His pursuit of health did not stop there, going on to propose the company's own health program through the use of their bedding products. His knowledge of the benefits of cotton and pursuit of a healthy body is still alive and in Ryugu today.
